Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD) testing evaluates the load-carrying capacity of flexible and rigid airport pavements and supports backcalculation, joint load-transfer assessment and Pavement Classification Rating (PCR) assessments. FWD testing evaluates road pavement structural capacity; GPR surveys provide continuous, georeferenced layer-thickness and subsurface information; and LWD testing verifies the stiffness and compaction of soil and granular foundation layers.

Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD)
FWD testing evaluates the structural capacity of road pavements by simulating a moving heavy-vehicle wheel load. Analysis of the measured deflection basin supports backcalculated layer moduli, weak-section identification, remaining-life assessment, maintenance prioritisation and overlay or rehabilitation design.
Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD)
Best suited to airport and heavy-duty pavements, HWD testing applies controlled impulses representative of aircraft wheel loading and records the deflection basin. Backcalculation and rigid-pavement joint testing provide layer stiffness, structural capacity and load-transfer results for PCR assessments, aircraft compatibility, rehabilitation design and long-term pavement management.
Light Weight Deflectometer (LWD)
LWD testing measures the stiffness and bearing response of compacted soil, subgrade and granular foundation layers. The portable method provides immediate site feedback for compaction control, construction acceptance and investigation of local weak areas.
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
Vehicle-mounted GPR continuously maps pavement layer thicknesses and construction changes at traffic speed. Georeferenced results can indicate possible voids, delamination, moisture variation and settlement, reducing reliance on isolated cores and helping target further investigation and maintenance.
