QRoad is your independent specialist for nondestructive pavement testing of roads, airports, ports, dikes and industrial parks. We offer you direct insight in the structural condition of asphalt and concrete pavements, through our Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) services. Bearing capacity is the most important property of a pavement. Where a visual inspection only describes the surface of a pavement, we are looking right through the pavement at layer stiffness and thickness. We’re doing this safe, fast and efficiently.
Our FWD measurements are a CROW-certified method for simulating heavy wheel loads. Heavy wheel load is the main factor for structural failure of pavements. From FWD measurements, the layer stiffness, residual life and maintenance plan for a pavement can be determined.
Our Ground Penetrating Radar is specifically designed for testing layer thickness of asphalt and concrete pavements at traffic speed and in a continuous way. Taking cores can be reduced to a minimum, which maximizes safety.

Our services
You engage QRoad to carry out falling weight deflection (FWD) and ground radar (GPR) measurements for non-destructive pavement testing of roads, airports, embankments and industrial sites. We also have a hand trap weight, or Light Weight Deflectometer. Research on load-bearing capacity of roads gives pavement consultants the tools to make sound pavement recommendations.
FWD testing
Suitable for carrying capacity measurements on roads. This measurement simulates the wheel load of a passing truck.
HWD testing
Suitable for carrying capacity measurements at airports. This measurement simulates the wheel load of heavy aircraft.
LWD testing
A portable version of a falling weight deflection meter suitable for load measurements on sand and foundation materials.
GPR testing
A ground radar for measuring layer thicknesses of asphalt and concrete pavements and pavement damages such as loose layers, voids, crushing, moisture and subsidence.
