Airport & Road Pavement Testing

QRoad provides specialist pavement testing for airports, roads and industrial infrastructure worldwide. Airport pavement assessment is our leading international specialism, including HWD testing and PCR assessments for runways, taxiways and aprons. We also provide FWD road testing, GPR pavement surveys and LWD testing for road authorities, engineering consultants and contractors.

Structural Pavement Testing for Airports, Roads and Infrastructure

QRoad is an independent specialist in non-destructive pavement testing for airports, roads and industrial infrastructure worldwide. For airport pavement managers, we provide HWD testing and Pavement Classification Rating (PCR) assessments for runways, taxiways, aprons and aircraft stands using the current ACR–PCR methodology.

We also deliver FWD testing for structural assessment of road pavements, GPR pavement surveys for mapping layer thicknesses and subsurface anomalies, and LWD testing for soil and granular foundation layers. These services support authorities, consultants and contractors from investigation and design through maintenance and rehabilitation.

HWD and FWD measurements apply a controlled dynamic load and record the pavement response at several distances from the load. The results can be used to evaluate bearing capacity, pavement layer stiffness, structurally weak sections and remaining service life, providing a reliable basis for maintenance and rehabilitation decisions.

At airports, HWD testing applies loads representative of aircraft wheel loading to flexible and rigid pavements. The measurements support structural-capacity evaluation, concrete slab support and joint load-transfer assessment, and technical inputs for PCR determination.

Discuss Your Pavement Testing Project

For roads, FWD surveys help road authorities and consultants prioritise monitoring, strengthening, overlays and reconstruction across complete networks or targeted sections.

GPR measurements complement structural testing with continuous information about pavement layer thicknesses and subsurface variations, while LWD testing evaluates the stiffness and compaction of soil and granular foundation layers. QRoad uses factory-calibrated and CROW-certified equipment, experienced operators and dedicated analysis software, with fieldwork coordinated to minimise disruption and meet project requirements worldwide.

Our services

QRoad provides independent, non-destructive pavement testing for airports, roads, industrial pavements and asphalt revetments on dikes. HWD testing is our principal method for airport and heavy-duty pavement assessment, while FWD testing evaluates the structural condition of road pavements.

Our GPR surveys map pavement layer thicknesses and subsurface anomalies, and LWD testing assesses soil and granular foundation layers. Together, these services provide airport operators, road authorities, consultants and asset owners with reliable data for maintenance planning, rehabilitation design and long-term pavement management.
