Specialist in Pavement testing

QRoad provides non-destructive pavement testing for roads, airport pavements and industrial pavements. We specialize in HWD testing and PCR assessments for airports, delivering reliable insight into bearing capacity, structural condition and remaining service life.

We measure bearing capacity and layer thicknesses of pavements

QRoad is your independent specialist in non-destructive pavement testing for roads, airport pavements, industrial pavements and asphalt revetments on dike and flood-embankment slopes. We provide direct insight into the structural condition of asphalt and concrete pavements through our Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) services. We also specialize in airport pavement evaluations, including Pavement Classification Rating (PCR) assessments based on HWD testing.

The bearing capacity of a pavement is one of its most important structural properties. While a visual inspection only assesses the pavement surface, our testing methods provide insight beneath the surface by evaluating pavement layer stiffness and thickness. We do this safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption.

Our FWD and HWD measurements are performed using factory-calibrated, CROW-certified FWD equipment to simulate heavy wheel loads, the primary cause of structural pavement deterioration. Based on these measurements, pavement layer stiffness, remaining service life and the most appropriate maintenance strategy can be determined. For airport pavements, HWD testing supports accurate Pavement Classification Rating (PCR) assessments.

Our Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) system is specifically designed to continuously measure the thickness of asphalt and concrete pavement layers at normal traffic speed. This significantly reduces the need for intrusive coring, resulting in safer and more efficient investigations.

Our FWD, HWD and GPR testing services provide the essential data for effective pavement management and maintenance planning. Combined with our technical expertise, flexibility, reliability, experience and rapid project delivery, QRoad is a trusted partner for non-destructive pavement testing projects worldwide.

Our services

You engage QRoad to perform falling weight deflection (FWD) measurements, Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD) measurements, and Ground Radar (GPR) measurements for non-destructive pavement testing of roads, airports, dikes, and industrial sites. For airport pavements, we specialize in HWD measurements to determine the Pavement Classification Rating (PCR). Additionally, we have a handheld falling weight, also known as a Light Weight Deflectometer (LWD). Research into the load-bearing capacity of pavements provides pavement consultants with the right tools to offer reliable advice regarding the structural condition and maintenance of the pavement.

FWD testing

Suitable for carrying capacity measurements on roads. This measurement simulates the wheel load of a passing truck.

HWD testing

Suitable for carrying capacity measurements at airports. This measurement simulates the wheel load of heavy aircraft.

LWD testing

A portable version of a falling weight deflection meter suitable for load measurements on sand and foundation materials.

GPR testing

A ground radar for measuring layer thicknesses of asphalt and concrete pavements and pavement damages such as loose layers, voids, crushing, moisture and subsidence.

Working areas

We offer you direct insight in the structural condition of asphalt and concrete pavements, through our Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) services. We carry out these measurements on roads, airports, dykes and industrial sites.
