FWD, HWD and GPR Testing for Industrial Pavements
Industrial pavements at container terminals, ports, refineries, logistics centres and production facilities are exposed to exceptionally high and repeated wheel loads. Insufficient bearing capacity can lead to premature pavement failure, restricted access, operational downtime and costly emergency repairs.
QRoad provides non-destructive Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) testing, Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD) testing and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) testing for heavily loaded industrial pavements. FWD and HWD testing determine pavement bearing capacity, layer stiffness and remaining service life, while GPR testing continuously maps pavement layer thickness, identifies variations and detects subsurface anomalies.
By combining structural testing with continuous subsurface data, our pavement engineers identify weak areas and provide reliable recommendations for targeted maintenance, rehabilitation or reconstruction. This helps minimise disruption, avoid unnecessary costs and extend the service life of industrial pavements.
Why Choose QRoad for Industrial Pavement Testing?
- Integrated FWD, HWD and GPR testing: structural capacity and pavement layer information combined in one complete assessment
- Testing for heavy-duty loads: controlled load pulses represent the effects of trucks, terminal equipment and other heavily loaded vehicles
- Structural condition and remaining service life: identify weak areas, determine layer stiffness and support targeted maintenance decisions
- Continuous GPR pavement scanning: map layer thickness, detect variations and identify subsurface irregularities across the surveyed area
- Concrete pavement and construction verification: assess load transfer at slab joints and verify the stiffness and thickness of newly constructed pavement layers
- Minimal disruption to operations: fast, non-destructive testing supported by specialist pavement analysis and practical rehabilitation recommendations
